W.G. Hamil is a family-owned and operated business whose roots trace back to 1935 and my grandfather’s founding of the J.W. Renfroe Pecan Company in Troy, Alabama. From the beginning, J.W. Renfroe set out to build the small business that bore his name on the twin principles of honesty and integrity. My grandfather passed away in 1974 and the company was taken over by J.W. Renfroe Jr. I joined the company in 1980, and established a branch buying station in Thomasville, Georgia. When I joined the company, watermelons were added to the line of quality products we handled. In 2007, I made the decision to leave Renfroe and to go into business on my own, purchasing my uncle’s interest in the Thomasville facility, and thus began W.G. Hamil, LLC. My son, Michael, joined the company full time in 2010 continuing the family business values our customers have come to trust.
